The Oushak Story Oushak is a small town in west central Anatolia in the country of Turkey. In the 15th century "Design Revolution" took place in Turkey, the region of Oushak started producing commerical quality rugs. Oushak rugs have a definite geometric design, consisting of squares and a star with medallions and all over floral pattern. The rug dye contains red, blue, green and earth tone colors, these colors over the years have become very pale and pastel. Oushak rugs are made of quality local wool from Balikesir and Kutahya, the quality of this wool compares to Australian Morino wool. They are a variety of sizes including very unusual oversizes and almost square sizes. The original antique Oushak rugs in good condition are rare to find, therefore they are expensive.
